Venice & Verona (IT), Sep 2025

When we booked our weekend in Venice over six months ago, we had no idea that it would coincide with the annual Regata Storica (Venice Regatta). So having spent day one walking over 30,000 steps, it worked out perfectly to spend the second day mainly watching ornate boats go past us while sitting on our butts. A big thanks to Mara (the owner of our great hotel, Madama garden retreat) and her family for inviting us to the festivities. And also to our friend Rita for lots of other recommendations. Since our onward journey had us traveling westwards, we took the opportunity to make a stop in Verona. It’s a beautiful UNESCO-listed city with Roman, medieval, and Renaissance architecture, and is famous as the romantic setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. But the main reason we stopped off there was so that we could use the caption: “Two Gentleman of Verona”. 🇮🇹👬🇮🇹
