Short story: I started taking fishing seriously a year ago when I started pompano fishing as a way to connect with my pops. After catching my first and only pompano, weighed at 3lb. It gave me a jolt, adrenaline that made me want to keep fishing. For 6 months after that I tried to catch fish, I was constantly skunked, not even a grunt. I continued to go fishing and learned new techniques from friends I met as I continued my fishing journey. Eventually I started to catch decent fish 8 months from when I started. Fun sized tarpons here and there, table fare mangroves here and some yellow jacks there. Anyways, it took me months, many hours and quite a bit of money to get it down. I have a top 5 list of fish I would like to catch and I can say one year later, I finally caught it. A Florida Permit. I felt as I fought the fish, everything I learned within the year and knowledge from all the fish I have lost went straight into catching this fish here. 33in to the fork, weighed in on the fillet table at 15lbs.
