Jacqui Lambie Slams Government Over ADF Sex Discrimination Case

In the Senate, Jacqui Lambie raised serious concerns about the Government’s approach to the Australian Defence Force sex discrimination class action. The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide received hundreds of submissions about sexual abuse in the ADF. Defence’s own figures show close to 800 reported sexual assaults over the past five years. The current class action alleges systemic failure to protect female ADF members from sexual harassment and discrimination during their service between 13 November 2003 and 25 May 2025. Senator Lambie criticised the Commonwealth’s reported plan to argue that if abuse occurred overseas, Australian sex discrimination laws may not apply. She said this risks denying veterans meaningful access to justice.
