澳洲看房日記 EP01｜第一集上線！ 我們開始在澳洲看房了 哈哈應該可以感覺出來我真的很開心 我跟威哥這輩子都還沒買過房 結果第一次買就要在雪梨 雖然還不知道要多久後才可以買到 (感覺最近好像是雪梨房市高點🤣） 但先開始慢慢看、增加一點概念 雪梨還蠻大的 區跟區之間的差異也不小 我們也想多了解之後再做決定 目前想法大概是離市區近一點的公寓 或郊區一點的獨立屋 但還沒有真的下定決心😆 今天看的這間算是典型華人區 這區比較重升學，房價還算負擔的起 如果是想走學霸路線的亞洲父母會很愛 但我跟威哥還在考慮這裡到底適不適合我們 像我們這種一代移民父母通常會比較焦慮 覺得孩子未來要很有能力才會機會融入當地 但又不希望孩子的成長過程只剩下拼成績 選擇在什麼樣的區落腳 為孩子選擇什麼樣的學校 背後也反應出家長的價值觀 不過這題是個大哉問哈哈 無論做怎樣的選擇都有相對應的犧牲 但這就是人生😆 House Hunting in Australia EP01｜First Episode is Live! We’re finally starting our house hunting journey in Australia! Haha you can probably tell how excited I am. Neither Wei nor I have ever bought a house in our lives—and now our first one might be in Sydney! We still don’t know how long it’ll take to actually buy something （Feels like Sydney’s housing market is at its peak right now 🤣) But we’re starting slow, just trying to get a feel for it. Sydney is huge, and each area is pretty different. We want to take our time and explore more before making any decisions. Right now, we’re leaning toward either an apartment in a good suburb, or maybe a house a bit further out—but nothing is set in stone yet 😆 The one we saw today is in a typical Asian-popular area. It’s big on academics, and the housing prices are still somewhat affordable. If you’re an Asian parent who values academic success, you’d probably love it here. But Wei and I are still figuring out whether this suits us. As first-generation immigrant parents, we tend to be more anxious. We feel like our kids need to be extra capable to truly fit in here—But at the same time, we don’t want their whole childhood to be just about chasing grades. Where we choose to settle down, and what kind of school we pick for our kids, reflects our values as parents. But that’s a big, complex question haha. Whatever we choose, there’ll be trade-offs. That’s life 😆
