Oldies at their finest, this photo show is a memory of Andy Büsser and the BIG BEAT BOYS, the various performances, with different musicians, in recent years. ROCK LEGENDS WITH THE BIG BEAT BOYS A Saturday in the Berlin-Treptower Eierschale. It is an experience at its finest - the oldies and goodies of rock history are presented so vividly that the life content of several decades trickles down your spine. It is as if they are all coming back to life, the good and bad memories that are connected to the well-known sounds of the rock legends. And yet what can be heard and experienced there is far more than pure nostalgia. It is an incentive to fantastic exuberance on this night. And a refueling of strength and a bit of courage for at least a week. Do people need that? Of course they need it, of course in times that seem colder and more brutal than usual. Those who perform on the small stage, which extends the auditorium, are familiar to the interested ex-GDR audience, mostly through memories of "old" GDR rock formations: Band leader Andreas Büsser (g, voc) was once with the Sputniks, Scirocco, Winnie II; his brother Thomas Büsser (b, voc) with Prolog and Winnie II; Wolf Rüdiger Kotljarski (dr, voc) played in the group Handarbeit; singer Holger Hillmann (voc, g) in various local bands in the north. Only Thomas Gärtner (keyb), the only "newcomer", came from the Frank Zander band. The BIG BEAT BOYS have been playing in their last line-up since 1991, without keyboards and with the same team. Especially for the “middle-aged” children of Potsdam and Brandenburg, the BIG BEAT BOYS, founded in 1965 by Detlef Feister and the two Büsser brothers, are something of a cult band. They played the international hits, and they mostly came... Result: a band ban for life. It's no wonder, then, that the group changed its name a few times, including with different line-ups. In later years, the singers Steffi Ringel (guitar, vocals) and then Anna Hilbert (vocals) were also involved. 'BIG BEAT BOYS' didn't work anyway because of the many anglicisms. Detlef and the Sandmen were also problematic because it was suspected that they wanted to "pull the wool over people's eyes". The Lidos or Delphin Septett - that was more acceptable. What the ravages of time do today, the scissors of the police did back then: hair short! But also this: when ARD broadcast "Ticket To Ride" at midday while sitting down, it took place live on stage with the band in the evening. Right up until the end, Andy Büsser could play the guitar strings with his teeth if the dramaturgy required it. Oh yes... To this day, they have been there in full force everywhere - hardly any older on the inside: in the Eierschale (Berlin-Zenner or Dahlem), in the Irish Pub (in the Euro Center), in the Alt-Berliner Bierhaus, in the Potsdamer Kartoffel Pub, in the Weide, in the Gutenberg 100 (formerly the DSF building), in the Steakfabrik Babelsberg and of course at a number of public events in Berlin and Brandenburg. And they always sought to be close to the people in the hall, they should feel comfortable. It was like a "class reunion", say the band and fans. And what they mean is: closeness, warmth, security, human contact instead of isolation and loneliness. Reflection on common ground instead of senselessness in an anonymous march through frustration. Of course they also wanted to live out their enjoyment of making music, you could see that in every respect. And they put it on the CD too - above all in their own songs and under the appropriate title: Rock'n Roll & Sauerkraut. BIG BAT BOYS are a real recommendation. Let the sound and the message take effect....
