This video was all over the place. I personally like to diagnose a vehicle and get enough evidence to condemn what is causing the issue. This was not the case. I felt like I really didn't have enough evidence to replace the driver side turbo until I still couldn't make enough boost and I had excessive amount of smoke from the exhaust that would get worse the longer the engine ran. Thankfully replacing the drivers and passenger side turbos took care of the concern. I feel I did not do a good job at knowing if the engine was seeing boost. Boost can be happening any time the engine is seeing a positive amount of air over what it would see in its naturally asperated form. Lets use an example. monitor an N/A 3.5 cyclone engine at wot MAP shows 13 psi. 3.5 ecoboost at wot could be 28 psi. At wide open throttle an N/A engine can suck in up to atmospheric pressure( 14.7 psi is average atmospheric pressure). anything over atmospheric pressure would be boost. if the cyclone can pull in 13 psi of atmospheric pressure. The ecoboost adds 15 psi boost. The ecoboost map will read 28 psi. 13+15 = 28 That's my understanding and could be wrong. What do you think? Let me know.
