Action from the Severn Valley Railway's 'Trains Through the Ages' event held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first steam hauled passenger train working on the Stockton & Darlington Railway in September 1825. The event saw a rare visit to a preserved heritage line for ex-LMS Royal Scot class 4-6-0 No. 46115 'Scots Guardsman', normally based at Carnforth in Lancashire for use on mainline railtours. 46115 is seen working alongside autotank 1450, 4930 'Hagley Hall', D1062 'Western Courier', and 50033 'Glorious'. I visited on Saturday 5th July 2025 and started my day with a quick visit to Bridgnorth station, then severed from the rest of the line by the landslip at Mor Brook near Eardington. I then moved on to Alveley, Highley and Arley. At Highley, we see two narrow gauge veterans, 1877 built, vertical boilered, 'Chaloner', and a 1902 built Quarry Hunslet, providing footplate rides on a short length of track outside the Engine House visitor centre. In the afternoon, I positioned myself on the footbridge just outside of Kidderminster station to film 'Scots Guardsman' being turned on the turntable, ready to face south for the rest of the event and it's return to Carnforth. This must be exclusive video footage as, for most of the time I was there, and much to my surprise, only one other person was also viewing the action, and he was taking still photographs only! In the platforms at Kidderminster we see 'Inspiration', the Railway 200 exhibition train, and 'HydroFLEX', the UK’s first hydrogen-ready passenger train, developed and tested by Porterbrook in Warwickshire. I finished the day at the crossing near the site of Alveley Miners Halt, where we see 'Scots Guardsman' return from Hampton Loade, now facing smokebox first.
