Jack The Ripper Murder Site - Mitre Square

We continue our tour of the Jack the Ripper murder sites Then And Now with a visit to Mitre Square. It was here, on 30th September 1888, that the body of Catherine Eddowes, the fourth of the ripper's victim was discovered in the south-west corner. The film overlays footage of the square as it was in 2013 (shortly before the bulldozers moved in and demolished the northern and eastern sections of Mitre Square) with evocative black and white images taken in the late 19th and early 20th centuries so that the viewer can make comparisons between the site as it was in 2013 and as nit was in 1888 at the time of the Whitechapel Murders.
