When I was a child, we did not have many western-styled restaurants. Only on very special occasions were we able to go out to eat at these fancy places. You ordered either hamburger steak (or hamburg steak as we call it in Korea) or pork cutlet. As I grew older, I had many opportunities to taste diverse and interesting dishes worldwide. However, this type of hamburger steak still holds a special place in my memory. It brings back my childhood memories and gives me a deep sense of comfort and happiness. This is also one of my husband's favorite dishes. He is always happy to eat this for lunch or dinner. Hamburg steak is usually served with rice and an egg, sunny side up which is also how I make it at home. When entertaining, I may add corn pudding or mashed sweet potatoes in lieu of rice. I hope that you will join me on this walk down memory lane. Ingredients: 3 cups of ground beef 3 cups of ground pork 2 tablespoon of Montreal steak seasoning 3 cups of chopped onion 2 cups of bread crumbs 1 cup of milk 2 eggs Salt and pepper to taste 1 can of Heinz demi-glace sauce 2 tablespoon of ketchup ⅔ can of water Recipe: Mix two types of meat with steak seasoning. Set it aside for 30 minutes. Soak bread crumbs in milk. When bread crumbs are all absorbed by milk, add two eggs. Mix meat with chopped onions. Add the bread crumb/egg mixture. Mix well. Separate the meat into 10 to 12 equal sections. Pat each section several times and form into patties. Individually wrap the patties in plastic wrap and freeze to use later. Cook over medium heat until browned on both sides. Braise in the demi-glace sauce for 10 minutes. Serve with a sunny side up fried egg and rice. Demi-glace sauce: Use a store-bought Heinz demi-glace sauce. In a medium-sized pan, add 1 can of demi-glace sauce and mix with 2 tablespoons of ketchup and ⅔ can of water. Blend well. Cook patties in the sauce for about 10 minutes. Pour extra sauce over patties when serving. 👩🍳 Support Diana's Table Please like, subscribe, and comment your thoughts on this video.
