This IDDSI 101 webinar is presented by the United States IDDSI Reference Group (USIRG), a subgroup of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) global. The USIRG is providing this resource to administrative staff so that they can facilitate implementation across all facilities within the company/organization. Administration will learn the basics of: • what IDDSI is, • why a globally standardized dysphagia diet framework is needed, • how IDDSI improves safety for people with dysphagia (e.g., reducing choking and aspiration risks among patients/residents), and • how IDDSI aligns with state and federal regulatory guidelines. It is essential to implement IDDSI now, as the process may take up to 12 months or more. Patient safety in your facility starts with all healthcare workers across all settings using the same standardized terminology and descriptors when recommending and ordering food textures and drink thicknesses. Your staff needs to prepare and serve consistently safe meals. This webinar will show administrative staff the IDDSI Implementation Guides, so that administration can be responsible to track the progress of their team's IDDSI implementation.
