We are not going beyond the cells as we are not talking about phrases and periods in this particular video. Although I created the names "Request and Reply", the concept is very common among musicians but we all find a way to explain it in our way, which is nice. I also created the name "Circular Reply" but the concept is used in thousand of songs and pieces. The "Call-Response" has origin in the African music but you can find it in great clasical musicians like Mozart (Jupiter Symphony Finale, Beethoven 5th and 6th Symphony, Strauss' Blue Danube and much more. No teacher expect the students to agree on how to analyse a piece, but nobody can deny the presence of continuous tension-release, question and answer, up and down or whatever you want to call in the construction of melodies.
