In this heartfelt episode of our “In Loving Memory” video series, we pay tribute to two of Panthera Africa’s most beloved lions: Achilles and Obi. 🦁 Achilles (3 August 2009 – 26 April 2024) Known as our gentle giant, Achilles touched everyone with his soft heart and immense presence. A dignified soul who spent his final years in peaceful retirement alongside his brother Jubatus, Achilles lived a life of respect, love, and exceptional care. His sudden and aggressive illness was a painful reminder of the vulnerability of even the strongest among us. His legacy lives on in the quiet strength he embodied. 🦁 Obi (27 October 2011 – 1 April 2023) Obi was resilience and light in lion form. From a fragile cub to a soul who stole hearts around the world, Obi's story reminds us of the importance of never giving up. Despite suffering from a severe Vitamin A deficiency caused by earlier neglect, he flourished at Panthera Africa thanks to love, care, and his own incredible will to live.
