Three months after losing my wife I return to the road on the first solo trip we had planned to take together. I stop at a seemingly overlooked Maryland state park, with zero hookups, to explore what's there, and begin my full boondocking experience with a nuCamp Tab 400. I've done plenty of tent camping and bikepacking trips, so alone in the woods is not new to me, but with a trailer it is. New Germany State Park in the western Maryland mountains is a small, pristine location once settled by German immigrants, later developed a century ago during the Great Depression as a recreational area that remains enjoyed today. Not considered a 'destination stop' it does appear to be a quiet gem for escaping park crowds to truly enjoy the outdoors.
