Water ION System Reviews and Test TDS - You Need to See This Model: TS400 Cold, Hot, Sparkling and Ambient 💧 What a “Water Ion System” Really Is Water Ion Systems — especially water ionizers — are machines that: Connect to your tap water and filter it. Use electrolysis to split water into acidic and alkaline streams. Produce “alkaline water” (claimed to have different pH, ORP, etc.) by concentrating minerals. ⚠️ Important: Unlike traditional filters or reverse osmosis (RO) systems, most water ionizers do NOT significantly lower TDS — they often redistribute minerals rather than remove them the way RO or deionization systems do. That means your TDS reading may not drop much even if you’re using an ionizer. 📊 TDS & Testing: What You Should Know 🔎 What TDS Measures Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is the measure of dissolved inorganic and organic substances in water — reported in parts per million (ppm). It is a simple indicator of water “mineral content,” not necessarily safety. Higher TDS doesn’t always mean contaminated water, and low TDS doesn’t guarantee pure water free of harmful contaminants. 🧪 TDS Results With Ionizers Unlike RO systems that can lower TDS dramatically (often 90%+), water ionizers generally aren’t designed to lower TDS to near-zero. Some key facts from user experience and testing: Water ionizer performance depends on source water quality: Hard water (higher mineral content/TDS) can produce higher apparent ions and better pH/ORP changes but doesn’t change overall dissolved solids the way RO does. Many reviews don’t even report TDS change because ionizers aren’t intended to reduce dissolved solids the way true filtration systems do — their focus is pH and ORP alteration. 👉 In other words: It’s normal for TDS to remain similar before and after using an ionizer (sometimes slightly different depending on minerals in water), because ionization doesn’t filter dissolved solids like an RO or deionization unit.
