Beginning with the realization that US presidential elections seem to be focused much more on smear campaigns, scandals, and sound bites, Michael asked to what extent our elections are decided by a cogent analysis of the candidates' policies and their abilities to best tackle the various complex issues facing the nation. Michael Carden is a freshman at Yale, hoping to major in Ethics, Politics, & Economics. Born in Port Washington, New York, but raised in Paris, France, he has always been interested in public service and the ways in which education, politics and economic development can help to better the lives of people not only in the United States but around the world. Michael is honored to be speaking at TEDxYale, and hopes to contribute to the many great ideas being shared. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
