Justin "JD" Smith, Ph.D., (he/him) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences, Division of Health System Innovation and Research, at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah. He serves on a number of national committees and advisory panels on implementation science, and is currently the Associate Editor of both the journals Implementation Science, Prevention Science, and Families, Systems, & Health. He is MPI and CoDirector of the CIRCL-Chicago Implementation Research Center, a NHLBl-funded center focused on disparities elimination in hypertension among African American adults, and he is the Director/Co-Director of four Implementation Science and Research Methods Cores in centers funded by NCATS, NCI, NIAID, and NICHD. He has received funding as Pl from NIH, CDC, USDA, and several foundations. He is the Founding Co-Director of the Mountain States Partnership for Community-Engaged Dissemination and Implementation Science (MS-CEDI) and Director of the Graduate Certificate in Implementation Science at the University of Utah. Prior to joining the University of Utah in Fall 2020, Dr. Smith was an Associate Professor in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago from 2015-2020 where he served as Associate Director of the NIDA-funded Center for Prevention Implementation Methodology for Drug Abuse and HIV and Co-Director of the Program in Dissemination and Implementation Science in the CTSA.
