1.5 hours of wall drills in 13 minutes. Raw, unedited wall ball and movement exploration — my favorite way to train. Wall work, followed by short court games. I've been doing wall drills my whole volleyball career. Against the rickety wall at my childhood home in the Palisades, in the racquetball courts at UCLA's John Wooden Center, in random gyms across the country and around the world, and now on the basketball court at my gym in Hermosa. Thousands of hours at this point. I go back and forth on a lot of things in training, but if I had one week to choose between sand or a wall — I'd take the wall every time. There's something almost meditative about it. A little volleyball temple. Quiet, focused, a chance to refine every touch, every angle, every scenario on your own terms. If this reaches even one person who thinks they can't improve without a partner or a beach nearby — I hope it changes that. You can get better anywhere, any time.
