Yes, it's Celine Dion. In March 2025, I played a concert with Quadro Nuevo here in Germany that was Titanic themed. ------------------ Check out my jazz vibraphone courses: https://www.timcollinsmusic.com/courses/ Instagram: @TimCollinsVibes ------------------------ March 2025: You see, they do this concert every year as a way to kick off the 6 month long art exhibition that is organized by the city of Rosenheim - it's called Rosenheim Lokschuppen (check it out: https://www.lokschuppen.de). The 2025 exhibition is all about the Titanic, and so we played a section of music from that time period, or roughly thereabouts. Quadro Nuevo: Mulo Francel - sax, contrabass clarinet, organization! Andreas Hinterseher - accordion, trumpet D.D. Lowka - bass Special Guests: Bernd Lhotzky - piano Tim Collins - vibraphone/drums Daniel "Siggi" Siegmund - banjo Matthias Well - violin Maria Well - cello #titanic #myheartwillgoon #titanicsong #vibraphone We began the concert with "Near, My God, To Thee" - which is the song supposedly performed by the band on the Titanic as it went down in the icy waters. Throughout the program we played music from Fritz Kreisler (incredible performances from Matthias and Maria Well!!), Scott Joplin, Astor Piazzolla, as well as a few New Orleans tunes (St. James Infirmary for example).. The evening was a really cool mix of classical-ish, jazz-ish, tango-ish, arrangements. We only had one real chance to prepare everything - and that was on the same day as the concert. Of course the kicker - and the reason I made this video - is the fact that Mulo asked me to arrange Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" for the finale of the concert. So I arranged it for piano, accordion, sax, vibraphone, banjo, violin and cello... not your typical ensemble! I had months to prepare, and of course I waited until about a week before the gig to ACTUALLY sit down and write the arrangement.. I was not a fan of the song - in fact when the movie "Titanic" came out I had absolutely no desire to see it. Now that I think of it, I have never seen the movie. I wasn't looking forward to writing the arrangement - but then I imagined how it would sound with this ensemble and these musicians, and very quickly got excited. There's a reason why James Horner is a great composer - yes the song is cheesy, but it's cheesy in an undeniably effective way. It's exactly what the song should be for that movie - epic, dramatic, and easily remembered. I fully embraced the cheese while writing this arrangement, and I think you can see from the video how much fun we had rehearsing and performing it. It seemed to me that the audience loved it as well - and since that's our job, I am happy. I hope you enjoy this video! -Tim
