First rendition is from the Palomino in No. Hollywood in November 1990, two and a half years prior to the release of "San Francisco Days." An early arrangement featuring Jimmy Wilsey on guitar. Second, at 3:30 , is from the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano in February 1994, is more acoustic, and features Gregg Arreguin and some gentler drumming from Kenney Dale Johnson. We used to wait breathlessly for the break in Chris's voice in the last verse ("it's not too la-ate"), and if he didn't sing it that way, we were a tiny bit sad. This song was of course a highlight on Unplugged, then was re-recorded for "Baja Sessions" with a shortened last verse. That shorter version is still a regular part of the set.
