Another big climb off the start, but not big in terms of length, only 15min or so gravel road, big in terms of its significants on the day. After high drive it’s down Captain Jacks, round 1, cross Gold Camp and hit Chyenne Canyon’s Columbine Trail. That takes us to Upper Gold Camp parking lot then we go up Buckhorn, the second significant climb on the day (8-10min single track), which spits us out at the tippy top of Captain Jacks. This is where the fire ball was. I missed it… A full pull down the captain straight to the finish. I lost a spot but also gained a spot on the day so I remained in 11th. Good times this week. Some really great trails and awesome racing. It felt good to flex a bit. It’s been a while. Got me all excited for some CX?!
