The only MTB race of the year is quite possibly the biggest MTB race of the year. After getting to CO about a month ago and getting all my base done on the Colorado Trail I am looking forward to stretching my legs and getting some racing in before the, potentially, upcoming CX season! The first stage kicks off with a fast, twisty, technical, and flat 11 mile TT in Palmer Park. Lots of rocks, awkward pinch points, and muscle climbs. I ended up 2nd 2 seconds off the pace. 6 setons separate the top 4. Time gaps will likely open tomorrow as we stat the day with a huge climb up Rampart Range Rd, a gravel road, out of Garden of the Gods up to the Rampart Reservoir, do a lap around it, and come back the road a bit. We’ll see if lugging 60lbs of gear around the rockies helped me develop some climbing legs.
