My name’s Damian. I’m a bartender here at Liquid Kitty in West LA California. And we’re gonna talk about the Key Lime Martini. Key Lime martini is one of those drinks that was developed actually towards the end of the martini bloom. Closer to the early 2000’s than the 90’s where most of them was made up. The apple martini and the cosmopolitan is close to the 80’s, this was a little bit later on. [Late 1990’s: Smirnoff introduces flavored vodkas including Raspberry, Mandarin, Green Apple, Raspberry, Cranberry, Raspberry, Citrus and Vanilla.] Came up with the advent of flavoured vodkas when Stoli made a vanilla and then Smirnoff made vanilla and all the other dokas got vanilla flavor into them. I’m gonna make it easier in a Key Lime Martini. There’s a lot of variations on it, we try to keep it simple here at the Kitty. This particular drink is one of our most popular. It’s really delicious. It’s not too sweet, it’s not too sour and it really just taste like a key lime pie. It’s a really good version of it but it’s really really simple. So I’ll take a martini glass, fill it with ice. Normally here at the Kitty, we have a refrigerator full of martini glass. Just want to show you how you can chill it on your own. I like to use water, some people use soda water but I like water. With water, it will make the ice melt a little faster. It’s really up to you. I’ll take a shaker glass, fill it with ice. Here at the kitty, I se smirnoff vanilla. I think it’s the best one out there. Stoli is really good as well. They’re my two favorite. I kind of have a little bit of preference on the Smirnoff. I don’t think it’s kind of sweet. It’s got a really genuine vanilla flavor to it. Leave it or not, it’s my favorite. So take the Smirnoff vanilla. Put about 2 ounces, maybe 2 and a half ounces of Vanilla in there. [2 oz of Vanilla Vodka] Then about an ounce and a half of Lime Juice [ 1 ½ oz of Rose’ Lime Juice] Then an ounce and half of Pineapple juice [ 1 ½ oz pineapple juice] Shake that up and then empty your martini glass. You can roll or shake to get the excess water out. Garnish that with a lime, take your strainer, strain your drink to you martini glass and that’s your Key Lime martini.
