The Inhotim Institute is world-renowned for its artistic installations, and rightly so. However, what equally captivates attention are the gardens, which greatly enhance the international renown of this space. Well, we already know that Inhotim is spectacular. What is just as extraordinary as its contemporary art pieces are its incredible gardens. The Inhotim Institute is a contemporary art museum and botanical garden located in Brumadinho (MG), Brazil. Inhotim is a private, non-profit entity funded by donations from individuals and companies—either directly or through federal and state cultural incentive laws—ticket sales, and events. Conceived in the 1980s by the Minas Gerais businessman Bernardo de Mello Paz, it rose from the iron-rich soil of a local farm in 2006 to become one of the largest open-air museums in the world. Its privileged location—between the rich biomes of the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado—and the stunning landscapes across 140 hectares of visitation offer visitors a unique experience blending art and nature. The collection includes approximately 1,862 works by over 280 artists from 43 countries, displayed outdoors and in galleries amidst a botanical garden with over 4,300 rare plant species from all continents.
