“Vengeance Is Mine” is a dark outlaw country Thursday morning Bible study scene set in Weston Auto. When Jimmy Dale questions what he has been told about the “last days,” Colton gently directs him back to Scripture (LSB). Through Deuteronomy 32, Romans 12:19, Hebrews 10:30, 1 Corinthians 7:26 and 10:11, and Revelation 11:8 — interpreted through Isaiah and Jeremiah — the song shows that the “last days” spoken of in the New Testament referred to the last days of Old Covenant Israel, not the end of the Christian age. Without confrontation, the Word itself closes the case. The conversation ends not with pressure, but invitation — supper on Saturday and Scripture opened wider. Full Lyrics Intro (spoken – quiet shop, coffee cup set down) Jimmy Dale (spoken): “Pastor… folks say we’re still in the last days. But I’m readin’… and I ain’t so sure.” Colton (calm): “Who has authority?” Jimmy Dale: “The Word does.” (low minor guitar begins) Verse 1 Jimmy had the pages marked, Notes in the margin tight, “Study Bible says He’s comin’… But this don’t read that right.” Colton didn’t lean in hard, Didn’t press or shove — Just opened up to Moses’ song, And let it speak thereof. Spoken Scripture (measured) “For Yahweh will judge His people…” — Deuteronomy 32:36 Verse 2 “Moses called it ‘last days’ then, Sang it long before, Said the Lord would rise in vengeance When Israel broke the Law.” Clyde shifted on his boot heels, Ray stopped wiping grease, Jimmy stared at Paul’s own letters Quoting that same piece. Spoken Scripture “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. — Romans 12:19 “The Lord will judge His people.” — Hebrews 10:30 Chorus If Scripture answers Scripture, Let it stand where it was laid, Moses sang of Israel’s ending, Not some future age. Paul said “present distress,” Corinth stood on edge — Those were Israel’s last days burning, Not the Church’s final breath. Verse 3 “Paul told ’em,” Colton said low, “Upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” — 1 Corinthians 10:11 “Present distress,” he wrote again, — 1 Corinthians 7:26 “That wasn’t talk for distant men.” The shop went quiet as winter fields, Truth don’t shout — it stays, Jimmy traced the lines with his thumb Through Revelation’s haze. Verse 4 “Chapter eleven, verse eight,” Colton let him read aloud: Spoken Scripture “The great city… where also their Lord was crucified… which spiritually is called Sodom.” — Revelation 11:8 Verse 5 “Sodom?” Jimmy breathed it slow, “That ain’t Rome, that ain’t a dream.” Colton nodded toward Isaiah, “Jerusalem wore that name.” Spoken Scripture (stacked, firm but calm) “Hear the word of Yahweh, you rulers of Sodom.” — Isaiah 1:10 “They are all of them like Sodom.” — Jeremiah 23:14 Verse 6 “Revelation ain’t the end of grace, It’s promise brought to flame, Moses’ prophecy fulfilled When judgment on Judah came.” Jimmy didn’t argue now, Didn’t brace or fight, Just leaned back against the toolbox And let it settle right. Final Chorus (lower, resolved) If Scripture answers Scripture, Then let it close the case, The last days Moses sang about Were Israel’s closing days. We’re not waiting on a skyline, He kept the word He said — The Old Covenant fell in judgment, And the New Day rose instead. Outro (spoken – softer, hopeful) Jimmy Dale (quiet): “I’m startin’ to see.” Colton: “Good. Keep studyin’. Saturday — bring your families. We’ll eat, and we’ll open it wider.” (garage door hums down… guitar fades)
