This video shows how to update an old Mainline LMS 50’ Full Brake coach to 21st century expectations e.g. to not look out of place within a rake of Hornby’s LMS Period III coaches. It shows recommendations as to paint detail improvements, swapping over to metal wheels & changing over to NEM couplings. However, the main reason for this video is to show the vast improvement to be gained using Shawplan’s Laserglaze flush glazing kit. But why do I have this model in the first place…… The reason for owning this coach was not planned. I stitching myself up trying to save a penny or two assembling a rake of suitable LMS Period III carriages to go with my then new Hornby Dublo LMS Duchess of Athol locomotive. Hornby were not producing their LMS Period III coaches at the time, so scrounging around the Internet was the only way to fine suitable rolling stock. Anyway, the reasons for having this Mainline example are all explained at the start of the video.
