Present Perfect Examples: "Haven't Been Swimming For" (with Subtitles) - https://www.tofluency.com/5-step-plan/ ← Click here to learn about how you can reach a high level of English FAST. -------- TRANSCRIPT Hello, this is Jack from tofluency.com, and in this English lesson, we're going to have to look at the present perfect tense, and more specifically, this phrase: "haven't been swimming for" ... And I used this in one my videos when I was talking about how swimming is like learning English and, when I was specifically talking about why I don't go swimming that often, so let's have a look at how I used it... However, I haven't been swimming for months. So, in the video I said, "however I haven't been swimming from months." And I used it in this way because I was talking about duration from the past until now - so something that hasn't happened for some time. And with negative sentences we use the present perfect. Now, the actual verb that I used here; the phrase I used was "to go swimming" so you can see here how "to go swimming" changes to "I haven't been swimming." So, let's have a look at more examples using the present perfect in this way: I haven't seen my (best) friend for a few weeks. They haven't been to the cinema since November. Now in this example I am using "since." I haven't worked in an office for 8 years. So, those are three examples using in the present perfect in this way. Now, my question for you in this video is: What is something that you like doing but you haven't done it for a long time? So, leave your answers in the comments section below. Thanks for watching and see you next time! -------- Please share this video if you found it useful. Thanks. https://www.tofluency.com/present-per...
