New metal instrumental!! I have been working very hard over the last ten months to compose and write new songs. I have taken a different approach for this album, in that I have written all of the tracks first before recording any of them. I hope this will lead to more consistency between tracks and higher quality recordings. Countless hours have been spent hovering over my computer at work, much to the dismay of my girlfriend. Nonetheless, she supports me in my music hobby :) I also want to thank all of my listeners and subscribers for their support! If it wasn't for all of you, I wouldn't be motivated to strive toward creating the best music that I can. Stay tuned for new tracks, I hope to release all ten songs one by one as I finish them. I would really like to get the album finished before the end of the year, we shall see! Read on for more background info about this song and video, or just kick back and enjoy the track! Thanks to all for checking out my music!! \m/ \m/ This song originally had a working title of "AngerMax", named after one of Barret's limit break moves in final fantasy 7. When I was trying to explain to my girlfriend why it was called that, she thought I said "liver break dead fantasy seven". I cracked up at that, and decided that Dead Fantasy was an appropriate name for the track. There is a popular CG video series that is also called Dead Fantasy. This track is not affiliated with that in any way, it's just a coincidence, hehe. I also tried something new for this one, and that was adding a lengthy bass solo! I have become an epic fan of bass guitar over the last year or so, and I thought it would be cool to throw it in. Unfortunately, I still don't have a bass of my own, so the bass remains programmed for now. The video production really got a bit carried away on this track, and if I hadn't spent so much time on it I probably would have had this online a few days ago, haha. I am happy with it though, I scoured the internet for some great images from games I've played in the past, and also grim reaper / zombie themed pictures. I used Sony Vegas to make a slide show of the pictures I found, and then sort of went overboard adding basic effects to try to fit the music well. I've done this in the past for other videos, but I randomly found a few new tricks for this one. Full credits for all of the images used are below. Please check out some of the artists, as they have tremendous talent and you might even find a new background to use! Production on this track is a complete turn around from what I've used in the past. Everything was recorded direct-in using an EMU 0202 usb interface. I assembled and recorded everything within Reaper. I used Superior Drummer 2.0 for everything except the kick drum, which was done using Drumkit from Hell. Several new VSTs (free ones!) have been used for all of the guitar tones. I used TSE 808 and Poulin LeGion for rhythm guitars, using Kefir to load an impulse response from Metallica's Disposable Heroes. Lead guitar tones were done with Poulin LeXTAC, using Kefir to load one of guitarhack's original impulse responses. All guitar tracks were played on my Ibanez RG2550z. Reverb on all guitars was done using Lexicon PCM. I also used PSP VintageWarmer to touch up the bass solo and all the guitar tracks. Last but not least! I do have guitar pro tabs available for many of my newer tracks. I still plan to setup a website soon where they will all be available for download. I'm not sure when this will happen, but definitely by the time the album is finished it should be ready to go. If not, at least then I will have time to finally get around to it XD. In the meantime, if you would like some tabs or mp3s feel free to send me a message with your email address! I try my best to answer comments and emails! Stay thirsty my friends!!
