Welcome to part two of our two part special episode featuring a custom 1065DH Kissaki-Moroha Zukuri Tachi based on the famous Kogarasu-Maru or "Little Crow" from www.ryansword.com ! The Kogarasu-Maru is particularly famous and important because it is the oldest known curved Japanese sword in existence. (click here for part one    • RyanSword 1060DH Kissaki-Moroha Zukur...   ) Made in the mid to late 700s, the Kogarasu-Maru marked a transitional point between the Chinese influence straight swords and what we know to today as the curved tachi and later Katana. The influence for this build came from a combination of historical documents including the Shuko Jissho and a surimono from the man himself, Hokusai. Knowing that the "Kogarasu-Maru" was a specific sword and of great import, I was confused when I saw so many reproductions being offered called "Kogarasu-Maru" and they all looked different...This started the project as I dove into researching what the first Kissaki-Moroha Zukuri tachi actually looked like and to shed some light on the subject.
