At the time it was my 4th time to Didcot Parkway on the Great Western Main Line, Cherwell Valley Line and the Cotswolds Line. All filming complied with guidelines with face covering worn and social distancing during filming. Didcot Parkway first opened as just DIdcot on June 12th 1844 when the section of the Cherwell Valley line between Didcot and Oxford opened. which was 4 years after the section of the Great Western Main line opened from Reading to Steventon. At the time between Didcot and Swindon there were several stops at Steventon, Wantage Road, Challow, Ufffington, Shrivenham and Stratton Park served by stopping services however all these closed on December 7th 1964 by Beeching Axe At one time the former Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway had link to Newbury from Didcot however like the intermediate stations between Didcot and Swindon also fell victim to the Beeching Cuts. Didcot station was renamed Didcot Parkway on July 29th 1985 by British Rail which included a new station building along with a car park was built to provide a Park and Ride although today's car park constructed in 2018 has up to 1800 spaces. The station layout revamped for Electrification of the Great Western Main Line between 2014 and 2017. Electric Trains began running to Didcot Parkway in January 2018 provided by Class 387s which terminate at most times in Platforms 4 or 5 and occasionally Platform 3. They call at all stations between here to Reading and since December 2019 provide a semi fast to London Paddington calling at Twyford, Maidenhead, Slough, West Drayton, Hayes & Harlington, Ealing Broadway and London Paddington. Although advertised as Ealing Broadway however it's to encourage passengers to use the slower services as well as the IET services stopping here. The other intermediate stations from Reading to London Paddington served by the all stopping TFL services. Didcot North Jn mostly used by the shuttle services from Oxford to Didcot Parkway as well as the 2 hourly service to Banbury. Main services from Great Western Railway to Oxford nowadays bypass Didcot Parkway diverging at Didcot Jn which is now half hourly and alternate with hourly services terminating at Oxford whilst the other services are extended over the Cotswolds Line to Moreton-in-Marsh, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Great Malvern and Hereford. CrossCountry Trains run from Bournemouth via Basingstoke and Reading to Manchester Piccadilly and normally Newcastle At the time of filming CrossCountry trains weren’t running to Newcastle due to reduced services Great Western Railway was running only 92% of their services at the time which the half hourly 387s was running hourly and the Cardiff Central stoppers weren't running. Hourly services to Cheltenham Spa call here along with half hourly services to and from Bristol Temple Meads although at weekends only a few trains a day from Weston-super-Mare, Swansea or Carmarthen call here with the latter nowadays running non stop through here. Since January 2020 passing IETs via Platforms 1 and 2 run in electric mode although as for Oxford services bypass Didcot Parkway in diesel mode which the changeover is carried out before or after Didcot East Jn although Unusually the IETs have to changeover power modes from electric or Biomode whilst on the move at speed unlike the Class 395 Javelins on Southeastern for HS1 switch at Ebbsfleet Intl or Ashford Intl to 3rd Rail mode on the platform.
