We Didn't Know What to Expect in Ganja, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿

Day 80 of Backpacking overland all the way from the UK to Australia 🇦🇺 After Waking up at the hotel in Ganja I head straight for the buffet breakfast and I was not disappointed. Not the nicest of weather but we headed straight out around the city to get a good first look at Azerbaijan, A place that coming into we didn't really know what to expect as we've never met anyone that has been there. With a short stop to see the Shah Abbas Mosque Ganja & State Philharmonic Hall, we took a walk down the Javad Khan Street. After the weather turned for the worse we walk straight back to the hotel as we are realise the snow seems to be following us everywhere we go! After a little workout down in the hotel gym we go out on the search for some decent food. We find a local place and after a trying to order through the language barrier I manage to get a lovely lentil soup and a chicken and cheese wrap, costing us less than £5 between us, by far our cheapest eat yet, things were looking on the up for the budget. On the way back reflecting on our day, despite the weather it was a really good first day in Azerbaijan and we are looking forward to seeing what else it brings. Back at the hotel we manage to workout some onward travel plans with the help of our hotel receptionists outlining a plan to either head by bus to Sheki or by Train to Qabala.
