Hello! 🌙 There are many Muslim countries around the world, including Iran 🇮🇷 , Turkey 🇹🇷, Egypt 🇪🇬, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, Indonesia 🇮🇩, and Pakistan 🇵🇰. Each of these countries has its own unique traditions and foods for Iftar. For us Iranians 🇮🇷, this religious ritual is very important. It is more than just a religious practice; it is a significant part of our culture and identity. I invited my family for Iftar in the traditional Iranian way, and I wanted to share with you what we Iranians usually have on our Iftar table. ✨ ---------------------------------------------------------- Ingredients for Sholeh Zard (Serves 4): • 120g broken rice 🍚 • 800ml water 💧 • 200g sugar 🍬 • 2.5g brewed saffron 🌼 • 40ml rose water 🌹 • 20g slivered almonds 🌰 • 15g butter (optional) 🧈 • 1.5g ground cardamom 🌿 • Cinnamon and pistachio slivers for garnish 🌟 Sholeh Zard is a traditional Persian saffron rice pudding, commonly prepared during Ramadan and religious ceremonies. --------------------------------------------------------------- Ingredients for Ash Reshteh (Serves 4): Legumes: • 200g soaked chickpeas 🫘 • 200g soaked red beans 🫘 • 100g lentils 🌱 Other Ingredients: • 200g chopped fresh herbs (leek, parsley, cilantro, fenugreek) 🌿 • 250g Persian noodle (Reshteh) 🍜 • 1 large onion, finely chopped 🧅 • 1 tsp turmeric ✨ • Salt & pepper to taste 🧂🌶 • ½ cup whey (or as desired) 🥛 • 3 tbsp oil 🛢 • 1 tbsp dried mint (for garnish) 🍃 Ash Reshteh is a traditional Persian thick noodle soup made with legumes, herbs, and whey. It’s popular across Iran, especially in Tehran’s cuisine. ✨ Enjoy with crispy fried onions, mint oil, and curd ! 😋 ------------------------------------------------------------- Ingredients for Khorma Halva (Southern Style): • 500g dates 🍇 • 250g wheat flour 🌾 • Oil as needed (to prevent the flour from becoming too runny) 🛢 • 100g chopped walnuts 🌰 • 1 tsp cinnamon 🍂 • 1 tbsp special Southern spices (a mix of black cumin, fennel, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg) or just cinnamon 🌿 Khorma Halva is a traditional sweet from Southern Iran, especially popular in Khuzestan, Bushehr, and Hormozgan provinces. It is famous for its rich taste, being nutritious, and its use in religious ceremonies and gathering🎉 -------------------------------------------------------------------- ngredients for Cheese, Za’atar, and Olive Toast: • 4 slices of toast 🍞 • 100g feta or white cheese 🧀 • 2 tbsp za’atar 🌿 • 10 olives (black or green) 🫒 • 1 tbsp olive oil 🫒 What is Za’atar? Za’atar is a spice blend typically made from thyme, sumac, sesame seeds, and salt. It is widely used in Middle Eastern cuisine to add flavor to foods, especially bread and appetizers. 🌿 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Ingredients for Masala Chai: • 2 tbsp black tea 🍵 • 1 small cinnamon stick 🌿 • 3-4 cardamom pods 🌰 • 2 cloves 🌸 • 1 small piece fresh ginger (or ½ tsp ground ginger) 🌱 • 2 black peppercorns 🌶 • 1 cup milk 🥛 • Sugar (optional) to taste 🍯 These ingredients are typically used in masala chai, but quantities can be adjusted based on personal preference. It is also available in pre-packaged form everywhere. Masala Chai is a traditional Indian drink, made with black tea and aromatic spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger. It’s very popular in India, Pakistan, and South Asian countries, and is known worldwide for its unique taste. 🌏 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Zolbia and Bamieh are traditional Persian 🇮🇷sweets , often served during Ramadan and special celebrations. Zolbia is a fried pastry with syrup, while Bamieh is a dough dessert shaped like small rings, also soaked in syrup.
