(25 Nov 1995) Thousands of Tuzla residents have commemorated those killed in the Bosnian Serb shelling of the town centre six months ago. 71 people were killed and some 150 injured when a shell slammed into a street in front of a popular cafe. Thousands of residents, relatives and friends of the victims visited the central boulevard where a Bosnian shell caused so much devastation on 25 May. Some stood in silence, others laid memorial wreaths. This was the popular cafe where most of the victims were having a good time when the shell struck. The cafe has reopened again but its patrons are still haunted by their memories of the shelling. They shelled five UN safe areas, including Tuzla. The result - one of the bloodiest days of Bosnia's cruel war. The victims were also commemorated at Tuzla cemetery, as relatives and friends brought flowers to the graves of their loved ones.
