Roberto Bertero, at the great Bonato-Klais organ in Villasanta (Italy), performs the rondo “Le Vertigo” by Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer. Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer (1703-1755) was one of the most important French harpsichordists and composers of the first half of the 18th century. Active in Paris, he composed theatrical and instrumental music and held prestigious positions at the royal court, distinguishing himself with a brilliant, virtuosic, and highly expressive style. “Le Vertigo” is a famous rondo from the collection Pièces de clavecin, published in 1746, the composer's only collection for harpsichord. The piece is striking for its impetuous, almost "vertiginous" character, achieved through rapid figurations, strong dynamic contrasts, and technically daring writing. In this performance, the piece is presented in a version for solo organ, which highlights its sonic power and tonal colors, offering an alternative interpretation consistent with the spectacular and theatrical spirit of Royer's music. ______________________________________ Special thanks to: Parish of S.
