Michels Trenchless used three trenchless construction methods to aid in the delivery of raw water to a new treatment plant in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The work included 2,569 feet of 56-inch pipe under Blakely Mountain into Lake Ouachita using the Direct Pipe method; 496 feet of 42-inch pipe along the bottom of Lake Hamilton using the float-and-sink method; and 506 feet of 56-inch pipe under Mazarn Creek using a microtunnel boring machine. Michels Construction Marine group provided marine construction and diving support. Michels Pipeline provided assistance with the float-and-sink operation. The Direct Pipe section under lake Ouachita was the longest Direct Pipe project completed with a 60-inch diameter machine.
