Premiered by the MLC School Vocal Consort in 2021, and awarded the Vocal and Spirit of Chamber Music Prizes in the 2021 Musica Viva Strike A Chord competition. Nominated for the 2021 HSC Encore showcase, for outstanding student works in Year 12 music across the state. Received second place in Monash University's Emerging Composer Award. Text: The bones of this land are black and barren. We hold our hands to greying skies, ashes rise and renew. What has become of our rich red earth and clear blue sky? And now we pray for rain, for cool to ease the heat, from scorch to soak, from black to green, for the land to rest. I pray that this land is buried in summer water, buried in summer rain.
