Across Kenya, innovative agribusinesses are transforming agricultural value chains through circular and climate-smart solutions. Supported by the Agri-Business Facility for Africa (ABF) through the Matching Grant Fund (MGF), these initiatives enhance productivity, strengthen food security and sustain the livelihoods of smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth in rural communities. From solar-powered milk cooling systems for dairy farmers, to vermicomposting technologies that convert organic waste into natural fertiliser for maize production, and wool value addition that generates income for smallholder sheep farmers, these projects showcase practical agriculture innovation in Kenya. Featuring partners such as Happy Cow Dairy, Kibmist Enterprises Limited, and Njabini Wool Crafters, the MGF supports diverse value chains including cocoa, maize and livestock (cattle, sheep, goats) across ACP countries. These successes are part of the Joint Action “Business Support Facility for Resilient Agricultural Value Chains”, co-funded by the European Union under the Samoa Agreement with the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ.
