In this video, I dive into the latest Warhammer 40K controversy — the sudden introduction of female Custodes — and why the explanation given for this change is, to put it politely, not exactly convincing. We examine the lore “justifications” currently being floated, how they clash with decades of established canon, and why long time fans are being told this was always the case (apparently you all just all missed it). More importantly, I explain why this kind of retroactive storytelling isn’t harmless — it’s the same creative shortcut we’ve watched play out in Star Wars, Star Trek, and plenty of other franchises that are now shadows of what they once were. This isn’t about hating characters or gatekeeping a hobby. It’s about internal consistency, believable world-building, and whether a franchise can survive when its own rules become optional. When lore bends to fit the message of the week, it usually doesn’t bend back. So is Warhammer 40K just “modernizing”… or is this the opening act of a very familiar franchise decline? #gamingcommentary #gaming #warhammer40k 0:00 Intro 0:19 All Inclusive 2:42 The Defence of Such Heresy 6:07 Why Do It? 10:29 Disgusting Behaviour Background Music: Background Music: Hidden Agenda - Kevin MacLeod Pooka - Kevin MacLeod Russian Dance - Joey Pecoraro Got Him From Behind - The Soundlings Bach Cello Suite No. 1, G Major, Prelude - Cooper Cannell Aletheia (Unforgetting) - Devon Church Brandenburg Concerto No4-1 BWV1049 - Classical Whimsical - Kevin MacLeod Corny Candy - The Soundlings Sneaky Spelunking - Joel Cummins Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies - Kevin MacLeod
