Several studies demonstrated the possibilities of using the Infrared and machine learning-based approach for malaria parasite detection in (dry blood spot) blood samples. This technique is reagent-free, cost-effective, and less labor required. However, little is known about the minimum number of parasites these techniques can detect and if it will be applicable in field surveys. In this study, I aim to investigate the applications of the mid-infrared and machine learning-based approach for the detection of malaria parasites in both fields and clinical settings by considering areas with varying transmission intensities.
