2 National Parks in 1 DAY! Carlsbad Caverns & Whites Sands - New Mexico

We are on a road trip to California and making stops in places we’ve never been before! Two spots in New Mexico that have been on our list are Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Parks. They are in a few hours from each other so we are going to try to visit both in one day. The caverns are absolutely amazing! You can take an elevator down to the big room or you can hike down. We chose to hike the winding, and sometimes very steep, trail down 725 feet to the bottom. It’s beautiful! The fact that these caves go so deep and we formed so long ago… and once you get to the big room! It is a sight like nothing else. We drove north through the mountains in New Mexico on our way to White Sands… this drive was beautiful!! A little scary at times as it started snowing on us twice, but so pretty! The drive was longer than we expected and we made it to White Sands about 4pm… so not a lot of time to spend here.
