Lana di Mezzo, Lana (Italy-South Tyrol, Province of Bolzano), Parish Church of the Holy Cross 7+1 bells (G2-A2-C3-D3-E3-F3-A3-C4*) C3-D3-E3-F3-A3-C4'* Grassmayr Bellfoundry in Innsbruck 1950 - G2 Grassmayr Bellfoundry in Innsbruck 2014 - A2 Grassmayr Bellfoundry in Innsbruck 1952 [00:07] Introduction [01:39] Angelusläuten - Ringing of the biggest bell "Herz-Jesu Glocke" (G2) [03:18] Vollgeläute - Ringing of all the bells (1st part) [10:50] Vollgeläute - Ringing of all the bells (2nd part) [17:52] Vollgeläute - Ringing of all the bells (3rd part) This is the midday bell ringing on the solemnity of All Saints. Given the distance of the mother church of Lana (located in Lana di Sotto), in 1940 the Teutonic Order commissioned the famous architect Otto Linder to design a new and imposing parish church for Lana di Mezzo; completed in 1950, the church was flanked by the bell tower with a characteristic spherical spire (jokingly called the “mela di Lana”, literally "Lana's apple"). The incredible concert of 8 bells, paced on two floors, was originally composed of 7 bells cast in 1950 by the Grassmayr Bellfoundry in Innsbruck in the minor chord of A2; in 1952 the "Dreifaltigkeit Glocke" (A2) was recast by the same foundry, while in 1996 Grassamayr again cast a larger bell called "Herz-Jesu Glocke", with a weigh of 6248kg. Following a breakage, the bell was recast in 2014 and is now the second heaviest bell in South Tyrol (6210kg), surpassed only by the Concordia 2000; even today the ensemble is one of the most solemn and imposing not only in South Tyrol, but also in the entire Alpine range. Thanks to the sacristan Gerhard and to Ruben and Nicolò! Friday 01 november 2024
