On 8 October 1992, former West German chancellor Willy Brandt died aged 78. The following week, ITN travelled to Berlin to document his state funeral. On 16 October, the day before Brandt's funeral service, thousands of Germans travelled to the Reichstag, where Brandt's body was lying in state, to pay their respects.
