In this Rainbow Mountain Peru travel vlog, I take on one of the most famous hikes in the Andes — the Rainbow Mountain trek from Cusco, also known as Vinicunca. The day begins early with a 3:30 AM pickup in Cusco, then a drive to Cusipata for breakfast and to prepare for the high-altitude hike. From there, we drive to the trailhead at around 4,850 meters above sea level to begin the 3.5 km trek toward Rainbow Mountain. Along the way, the landscape is incredible with views of the Andes and encounters with alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas roaming freely. After reaching the summit at over 5,000 meters, we take in the famous colourful layers of Rainbow Mountain before continuing to explore the nearby Red Valley, one of the most surreal landscapes in the region. After the hike, we return to Cusipata for a local buffet lunch before travelling back to Cusco to end this unforgettable day trip.
