Regional Ayurvedic Research Institute, Jammu Celebrates Lohri and Highlights Seasonal Health Advisory Under Leadership of Dr Harbans Singh Er Shubham Kotwal The Regional Ayurvedic Research Institute, Jammu organized a cultural and awareness programme in which the festival of Lohri was celebrated with enthusiasm by the institute staff and researchers. The programme was held under the leadership of Dr Harbans Singh, Head of Institution, who emphasized the importance of combining traditional festivals with health awareness as guided by Ayurvedic principles. While addressing the gathering, Dr Harbans Singh spoke in detail about the ongoing change in weather and its impact on human health. He highlighted the need for timely changes in diet and daily routine in accordance with seasonal variations, as recommended in Ayurveda. He advised people to adopt a balanced and nutritious diet during the winter-to-spring transition, consume warm and easily digestible food, and maintain a disciplined lifestyle to strengthen immunity and prevent seasonal ailments. Dr Harbans Singh also extended advance greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, explaining its significance in Ayurveda as a period of seasonal transition that calls for mindful dietary habits and positive lifestyle practices. He encouraged people to embrace traditional wisdom to maintain physical and mental well-being. The programme witnessed the presence of key officers of the institute, including Smt Talat Anjum, Research Officer (Botany), who continues to contribute significantly in the field of medicinal plant research and botanical studies. Dr Poonam Mohod, Research Officer (Ayurveda), and Dr Aditya Shah, Research Officer (Ayurveda), were also present and actively participated in the event, reflecting the collective commitment of the institute towards research, healthcare, and public awareness. The celebration of Lohri by the department reflected the institute’s dedication not only to scientific research but also to promoting cultural values and community bonding.
