Rooted in Turkish makam concepts and filtered through contemporary jazz-rock harmony and rhythm, this piece playfully brings together Middle Eastern melodic gestures, microtonal inflections, and American jazz-rock feel. The result is a high-energy cross-cultural track where “alla turca” phrasing meets jazz-rock & shuffle in a way that is both deeply informed by tradition and unapologetically modern. As with much of his recent work, this music reflects Sanlıkol's long-standing interest in exploring how non-Western tuning systems and rhythmic concepts can coexist naturally within a jazz context — not as ornamentation, but as an integral part of the musical language. Sanlıkol performs this piece on his custom-built electric oud, an instrument designed specifically to function as a true electric counterpart to the traditional oud, much in the way the guitar evolved into the electric guitar.
