Tashi Delek! Today, I will share with you the day I visited Sera Monastery. Sera Monastery is one of the three greatest monasteries of the Gelu Sect in Tibet. For many tourists, the monastery is best known for the monk debate, the saint mandala, and the beautiful construction of this monastery. But for Tibetans, Sera Monastery is also famous for newborn babies. In the Tibetan tradition, if a family has a newborn baby, then the parents can bring the baby here for the blessing from Yamantaka, the main protector of Sera Monastery. So when you see a child with a black dot on his/her nose, it means he has just been blessed. I will take you through an ordinary person’s day in Tibet, like having breakfast at a local restaurant, visiting the monastery, and doing the kora around the monastery. At noon, I met three elderly people who had lost their money. So I invited them to have lunch with me. Let’s experience the daily life of ordinary Tibetans.
