Margaret Wright has been involved in music all her life, starting with singing for missionary groups at 4 and playing piano at 6. She played for church choirs and classes throughout school. With a music education degree form Converse College, Margaret taught public school music, retiring after 22 years. She is now living in Kennard, Texas. In 1994, the direction of her family’s lives took an unexpected, delightful turn when they were divinely led to the dulcimer. They visited the McSpadden Dulcimer Shoppe where Margaret bought her first mountain dulcimer. Later, in 2000, her son Lloyd won the National Mountain Dulcimer Champion title at Winfield, KS. Margaret has done much teaching around the country and has written the “Twelve Tune Songbooks”, a very popular set of dulcimer tablature books. In her travels she has often performed with her musical family – Jerry, Hollis and Lloyd Wright. In 2002 she & Jerry started the Palestine Old Time Music and Dulcimer Festival, AKA Old Pal, with the 22nd festival being in 2025. Son Lloyd also runs the Old Mill Music Festival.
