In this video, we show you a Super Easy Mandazi Recipe. This recipe in particular is useful if you want to make a small batch of this Swahili Style Soft Mandazi (also known as Mahamri). Mandazi is the equivalent of an East African Donut and it is very popular particularly in Tanzania and Kenya. Video Timings: Intro: 0:00 Mandazi Recipe: 0:44 Plating and Presentation: 2:45 Ending Comments: 3:08 For this Mandazi recipe, you will need: 1 cup coconut milk 2 tbs yogurt 1 tsp cardamom powder 1/2 (of a 7g) sachet of yeast that has been activated in a little warm water with some sugar 3 tbs caster sugar self-raising flour We kept these mandazi plain since we served them with coconut Mbaazi (pigeon peas) but you can even sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on it (mix cinnamon powder with some caster sugar). Mandaazi is absolutely delicious any time of the day. They are hollow on the inside which makes them perfect to fill with Mbaazi, but they are usually just eaten on their own with some tea.
