4th International Forum on Migration Statistics (a Global Network Webinar)

The 4th International Forum on Migration Statistics (IFMS 2025) is organized by the OECD, IOM, and UN DESA and will take place in Malmö, Sweden from 16-18 June 2025. This global event is expected to convene around 200-250 speakers and up to 400 participants, including policymakers, researchers, and data experts, to discuss the Revised UN recommendations on migration statistics, as well as innovative approaches for enhancing the availability, accuracy, and timeliness of migration statistics. This Global Network Webinar provided an overview of the key thematic focus and objectives of IFMS 2025, highlighting topics such as building national capacities on new migration statistics approaches and international reforms, migration data innovation, socioeconomic integration of migrants, and migration forecasting. The speakers presented details on the event's structure, including high-level plenary sessions and 42 parallel sessions covering a wide range of migration data-related issues. The Q&A session addressed logistical questions, such as the registration process, visa support, and hybrid participation options. Speakers emphasized the importance of continued engagement and collaboration among the community, including through the IFMS LinkedIn group and direct outreach to the organizers. The webinar concluded with an introduction to the UNHCR-OECD Datathon competition, which aims to promote innovative solutions for improving data and understanding on issues affecting displaced and stateless children.
