Greetings All, Herein we take a look at the ins and outs of fiddling with the trigger spring from a Daisy Model 99 Target gun. To cut to the chase, don't do it. The Model 99 is a wide body Daisy that evolved out of the Daisy Model 140 Defender which was introduced in 1941. Unlike the small frame Daisy's the Model 99 has a two piece receiver and is 1.492" wide versus the .967" wide Model 1938 Red Ryder. The stock sets on the Model 99 are also chunkier and much closer to the typical rifle dimensions than Daisy's other BB gun offerings. The Model 99 is also equipped with a really good set of target sights and has been a standard for decades in youth shooting leagues until Daisy reintroduced the gun as the Model 499 which changed the gun to a muzzle loading single shot. The triggers on the Model 99 are pretty nice but suffer from issues with the trigger return spring. This video shows the correct orientation of the spring and how that orientation is critical for proper operation. Thanks for watching!
