This video tells the origin legend of ArunachaleswararTemple (Tiruvannamalai): Brahma and Vishnu argued over who was supreme, and Shiva appeared between them as a boundless pillar of fire (Jyoti-Stambha)—a form with no beginning and no end. To prove their claim, both set out to find the limits of the flame: Vishnu went downward (Varaha form) and returned humbly, accepting the pillar was endless. Brahma went upward (swan form) and—through false witness—claimed he saw the top. Shiva’s verdict reshaped tradition: ✅ Vishnu is praised for truth and humility. ⚠️ Brahma is remembered for the lie—leading to the belief that he would not receive temples of exclusive worship. From this Jyoti form, Shiva is revered here as Arunachala Hill itself, and the temple at its base worships Shiva as Agni (Fire)—one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams. 🪔 This is also why Karthigai Deepam is so powerful—when a great flame is lit atop Arunachala Hill, symbolizing Shiva’s eternal Jyoti. 🚶 And why devotees perform Girivalam / Giri Pradakshina—the sacred walk around the hill (about 14 km) as an act of devotion. 🙏 Comment “Om Namah Shivaya” if you want the next episode covering Arunachaleswarar Temple history, architecture, and festivals. #arunachaleswarartemple #tiruvannamalai #arunachalam #mahadev #lordshiva #jyotirling #shivapurana #sanatandharma #karthigaideepam #girivalam #agnilingam #vishnu #brahma #omnamahshivaya
